Fosshape

Fosshape is a synthetic felt-like material that only needs to be heated to stiffen and hold its shape. The material is very easy to cut with ordinary scissors, does not fray, and sews excellently – both to itself and to other fabrics as a reinforcement. It is mildew resistant and can be dyed.

Fosshape is ideal for:

• masks
• hats and millinery accessories
• bases for wigs
• stiffeners for costumes
• mannequins and forms (for full body forms, enlargement or silhouette changes)
• and much more. It is perfect for costumes and props of all kinds.

For shaping and stiffening, a garment steamer works best, but a steam iron or hot air gun works just as well. How stiff the material becomes depends on the temperature, heating duration, and applied pressure – the higher the temperature and longer the exposure, the firmer the result. When working, exercise caution, avoid touching the hot material, and do not steam the fabric directly on the body due to the risk of burns. Use a form or mold if necessary.

Fosshape is available in three weights (higher number = stiffer and stronger material):

• 300 g/m² – the lightest variant, white only (great for details and delicate constructions)
• 400 g/m² – black only
• 600 g/m² – the strongest and stiffest, white only (for solid reinforcements and larger shapes)

For reference: weights 300–600 g/m² roughly correspond to the weight of wool fabrics from light to heavier coat weights.

Sales information:
The fabric is sold in half-meter increments, width is always 114 cm.

• 1 piece = 50 × 114 cm
• 2 pieces = 100 × 114 cm (one continuous piece)
• 3 pieces = 150 × 114 cm etc.

Quick tip: multiply the required length in meters by 2 to get the number of pieces you need to order.

Due to cutting from the roll, minor inaccuracies in remaining stock quantity may occur, especially with low stock levels. In such cases, we will contact you before shipping the order.
